I have two decades of experience teaching statistics, mathematics, and data science, using tools like R, Python, and Excel. Quantitative concepts are useful tools for understanding and interacting with the world, rather than just techniques to memorize. As teachers, we need to explicitly help students make those connections with the real world. So I’ve developed a lot of experience creating conceptually and contextually grounded active-learning curricula. My students have ranged from 5 to 65 years old, though I’ve spent the most time teaching college. I also enjoy supporting teachers, and have mentored dozens of educators over the years.
Some of the courses I’ve taught:
- Data Manipulation with Python
- Statistics
- Networks, Markets and Game Theory
- Differential Equations
- Linear Algebra
- Calculus
- Basic Mathematics/Arithmetic
I currently have a full-time job, and am not looking for a full-time teaching position. However, if you are looking for a guest speaker, or just want to talk about teaching, math, stats, or data science, feel free to reach out at my gmail address, which is chrisquarles.
